PNetLab is a browser-based network emulation platform designed for building, testing, and learning complex network topologies without dedicated hardware. It lets you deploy multiple virtual network devices using KVM/QEMU and containers, connect them with drag-and-drop links, and access each node through integrated SSH, Telnet, and VNC consoles. Common workflows—such as capturing packets, saving and restoring snapshots, importing and exporting startup configurations, and organizing projects—are built into the web interface to streamline lab creation and troubleshooting.

Typical uses include certification study, classroom training, feature validation, proof-of-concept testing, and skills practice. PNetLab runs as a Linux-based virtual appliance on popular hypervisors such as VMware and Proxmox, and it can bridge virtual labs to physical networks for hybrid scenarios. It supports a wide range of third-party virtual routers, switches, firewalls, and other appliances when provided by the user, making it flexible for multi-vendor environments. Overall, PNetLab offers an accessible, all-in-one environment for students, educators, and network professionals to design and experiment with realistic network topologies.

The most popular version of PNetLab among our users is 2.2.
